During the day, Blake was energetic and did his normal acivities. At night, he began to get high temps. Blake went to the Doctor August 23, 2004 and was diagnosed with possible leukemia. After tests, it was determined he had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He went from what we thought was a healthy 10 year old to a very sick 10 year old in a matter of hours. He had some up times were he would play Game Cube or play with a remote control car, but more than not, he wanted to sleep. By Wednesday Night, he was basically doing Nothing. Thursday, he seemed really good and even got up and walked around a bit. Late Thursday night, he was in pretty bad shape and was moved to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). He underwent surgery to insert a tube in him so he could receive medication. He began Chemotherapy on Friday and has began to improve.
He will have his ups and downs but he will be in our prayers and thoughts and we ask that he be in yours.
Blake continues his Chemotherapy in the PICU. His Breathing is much better than it was a days ago. He continues to struggle, but with the support staff here at MCV, he continues to improve.
