Sorry this update is so late... With school starting and other kids to take care of, it's a workout.
Blake had a very restful day. His chest x-ray showed no change from yesterday. Although they have the ventilator doing more of the work for him, they were able to go down on some of the settings.
Now, like everything else hasn't been a struggle, Blake has begun to develop a few blisters under a couple pieces of tape. Also, on his right hand, every other finger has swelled up and turned purple (been progressing a few days). Dermatology came in and cut skin from both points to biopsy them and make sure it's nothing serious.
That means he now has stitches in his back, side, leg and pinkie finger, all waiting to see if anything grows in the lab from them. Not sure the total stitches count, but a kid with no immune system, and no white blood cells to fight off infection and heal, that seems a bit much... he went from being a pin cushion to a piece of rare steak.
His white blood count is 400 and the blasts are all but gone. That is definately wonderful news. The next few days will tell exactly how the Chemo went. The doctors are very happy of the Leukemia progress, but it seems that if anything else can go wrong, it has... hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel is near, and hope it's not a train.
Glad Blake is one tough SOB... We'll have some great stories to tell him, and a lot of great messages once he comes out of this!
