Much has gone on and I've been extremely busy...
The doctors notified us that they want to move directly to transplant, and they hope to begin within 3 weeks. Everything changes day after day so we have no idea what's actually going to happen until it does.
Blake's Hickman Catheter (the IV tube in his chest) had to be removed yesterday because it was seriously infected. Also, The IV line in his chest was replaced with one that went in his arm and up into the vein in his neck.
His platelets were 10,000 yesterday (way too low for a safe surgery) but it had to be removed so he can finally kick this infection he currently has.
On top of everything, Blake now has a sinus infection and hopefully he can kick that too.
Tammy and Brian were not bone marrow matches (parents never match anyway) The Bone Marrow people are confident they have a match though since they have 51 "potential matches" and 4 people that are perfect matches that need only agree to be further tested and donate, so that's a relief. (But then again, we cannot count our chickens before they hatch...)
As I put it to Blake and the Doctors... Blake needs to get from point "A" to point "B". He could take the steady and fast road, but like Blake's personality, he'd rather walk through the woods and have to get through the sticky areas... But as long as he gets to point "B"... who cares?
More to come when there's more to come.
